Channahon United Methodist Preschool

At HSA, we believe that sometimes the smallest upgrades can make the biggest difference—especially when they impact young students just beginning their educational journey.

Our HSA Gives Back Q1 project brought a meaningful transformation to the bathroom and water cooler stations at Channahon United Methodist Preschool (CUMP). Teachers, students, and parents at the school have been incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to update these important spaces.

One of the biggest upgrades came through Murdock, who generously donated two bottle filling units. These stations help prepare students for kindergarten, where they are expected to know how to use bottle fillers in public schools. Students can now learn ahead of time while also having peace of mind knowing their water is filtered for PFAS and other common contaminants thanks to Murdock’s WF3EZ filtration system.

The sink area also received much-needed improvements. T&S Brass donated a new sensor faucet and mixing valve. Previously, the classroom bathroom relied on a push-down timed faucet that was no longer functioning properly, often requiring the kids to help each other wash their hands. Now, the students are excited to wash their hands on their own—giving them a sense of confidence and independence as they prepare for kindergarten.

Bradley helped complete the space with the donation of a new soap dispenser and napkin dispenser, replacing broken equipment. These upgrades brought the entire sink area back to life and made daily routines easier for both students and teachers.

HSA also added a fun Nemo-themed bathroom upgrade, replacing the plain white walls with something far more exciting. HSA Communications Manager Katie Goodman worked alongside teachers and their families to help paint the space, apply the themed decals, and install the Bradley soap and napkin dispensers. The colorful theme has quickly become a favorite among the kids and has helped turn the bathroom into a space they’re excited about.

The teachers are equally thrilled and now feel confident maintaining everything thanks to the generous Milwaukee Tool donation of a hand tool set and tool bag. They can easily change batteries, replace filters, and keep everything running smoothly, with a dedicated place to store manuals and fixture keys.

Of course, none of this would have come together without a great install. Jimmy Kane, head of HSA’s Milwaukee Tool team and a licensed plumber, knocked it out of the park—installing the new faucet and bottle filling stations, getting everything operational quickly, reworking the toilet with new internals, and fixing the flush so everything functions properly.

After helping launch the HSA Gives Back initiative in January 2023, Katie Goodman has worked to grow the program and identify meaningful ways for HSA and its partners to support local communities. This project held special significance for her, as both of her children attended CUMP for Preschool and Pre-K. It was especially rewarding for her to see the program give back to a school that means so much to her family.

For a private preschool that relies primarily on tuition, upgrades like these can make a meaningful difference. Sometimes, it’s the small improvements that create the biggest impact for the next generation.
